National Wear Red Day

National Wear Red Day! Get it done! Tomorrow!

The Go Red for Women campaign started in 2004 when the American Heart Association took on the challenge of raising awareness about the number one cause of death in woman.

We all know how it goes for many women, they place the health and well-being of family over their own. They ignore or flat out dismiss early warning signs of heart disease.

Like many, I have examples of loved ones who have had a heart attack and did not survive.

Conversely, I am fortunate to be able to say I have examples of survival too.

Blessed is all I can say in regards to one of my closest and dearest friends who has suffered and survived a heart attack. June 22, 2017 is a day I will not forget. The hard truth in the memory of this day is knowing the difference between not seeing someone as often as you would like and never seeing them again.

So here it is: I invite you to WEAR RED on Friday, February 5, for National Wear Red Day. Join myself and others in the fight to bring focus to heart disease and stroke in women. Think about it - cardiovascular disease and stroke claim the lives of 1 in 3 women every 80 seconds.

Find your people, cherish your people and love your people!
